Three Styles for Your Barn with Lean-To

Choose the Perfect Barn Style to Complement Your Needs

Carolina Barn

The Carolina Barn features a tall main section with shorter lean-tos on either side, offering flexibility and a traditional appearance when fully enclosed. This style is ideal for those needing additional space for an RV or tractor alongside smaller vehicles.

  • Roof Pitch: Main building has a 3:12 pitch, lean-tos have a 2:12 pitch.
  • Height Requirements: Main building should be three feet taller than the lean-tos. For example, if lean-tos have a 7-foot leg height, the main building should have at least a 10-foot leg height.

Horse Barn

The Horse Barn style boasts a curved roof at the edges, making it a more cost-effective option without compromising durability. Each section can be open or closed, providing versatile usage for horses and storage.

  • Roof Design: Curved edges for enhanced aesthetics and cost-efficiency.
  • Height Requirements: Main structure should be three feet taller than the lean-tos on either side.

Seneca Barn

The Seneca Barn features a continuous roof with a 3:12 pitch, offering a sleek and modern look. This design is perfect for those seeking a streamlined appearance with ample space for vehicles and storage.

  • Roof Pitch: Continuous 3:12 pitch across the entire structure.
  • Height Requirements: Lean-tos must be two feet shorter for 12-foot lean-tos and three feet shorter for 8-foot lean-tos.

Lean-To Barn Prices

Competitive Pricing for Versatile Metal Buildings with Lean-Tos

One of our most popular designs is a 30×40 metal barn with lean-tos on both sides. Typically, this configuration includes:

  • Main Section: Enclosed 30×40 feet with 10-foot sides.

  • Lean-Tos: Two 12-foot-wide lean-tos on each side with 7-foot sides.

  • Total Size: 54×40 feet offering nearly 2,160 square feet of covered space.

  • Price: A 30×40 barn with 12-foot open lean-tos on each side can cost less than $20,000, which is about $9,000 less than a full 54×40-foot building.

How To Make Your Lean-To Plans

Design Your Lean-To Plans with Ease

1.  Design Your Main Building:

  • Contact us to configure the main (center) section of your building.
  • Ensure the main building is three feet taller than the lean-tos.
  • Save your design by emailing it to yourself for easy access and modifications.

2. Design Your Lean-Tos:

  • Lean-tos are essentially half of a carport or garage connected to the main building.
  • For example, for 12-foot lean-tos on both sides, design a 24-foot-wide carport split into two 12-foot sections.
  • Adjust the leg height of the lean-tos to ensure proper connection to the main building.

3. Finalize Your Design:

  • Save the lean-to designs and add them to your cart.
  • Be aware of an additional fee for connecting the lean-tos to the main building.

Common Lean-To Uses

Versatile Applications for Your Metal Building with Lean-To

Metal Building with Lean-To Porch

Add an open or partially-enclosed porch to one or both sides of your building. Ideal for:

  • Parking Vehicles: Protect cars or equipment without the need for full enclosure.
  • Equipment Storage: Store tools and outdoor gear while keeping them accessible and protected.

Lean-To Horse Shelter

Create a practical and spacious lean-to barn for horses:

  • Shelter: Offer protection for horses while allowing them to move freely.
  • Storage: Keep feed, hay, and equipment organized and easily accessible.

Lean-To Garage (Metal Garage with Lean-To)

Expand your garage capacity by adding lean-tos instead of opting for an extra-wide, clear-span garage. Perfect for:

  • Three or Four-Car Garages: Accommodate more vehicles with lean-tos for added space.
  • RVs: Provide ample space for recreational vehicles by making the main section taller.
