Before moving forward, it’s essential to secure any required building permits. Permit requirements vary by location, so please follow these steps to ensure compliance:

1.  Submit Permit Documentation

Send Us a Copy: Once you receive your permit, send us a copy via email or photo. We cannot schedule your installation until we have confirmation that the permit has been secured.

2.  Complete the Application

Fill Out Forms: Accurately complete all sections of the permit application.

Pay Fees: Submit the required permit fees along with your application.

3.  Determine Permit Requirements

Check Local Regulations: Contact your local building department to confirm if a permit is needed for your carport installation.

Manufacturer’s Role: In some areas, the manufacturer may be responsible for applying for or obtaining the permit. If this applies to your location, inform us immediately.

4.  Engineer Plans

Standard Plans: If your building department requires generic engineering plans, notify us as soon as possible. We will order the necessary plans, and the manufacturer will email them to you within 1-2 weeks.

Wet Seal Plans: For jurisdictions requiring “wet seal” plans (physically stamped with a rubber seal), let us know so we can mail them to you directly.

5.  Prepare a Site Plan

Sketch Your Property: Draw a detailed sketch of your property, indicating property boundaries, the carport location, and the positions of other structures, wells, and septic fields.

Submit the Site Plan: Include this sketch with your permit application as required by your local building department.

Ensure Your Site is Ready for Installation

Proper site preparation is crucial for a successful carport installation. Follow these steps to prepare your site:

1.  Mark the Corners

Use Flags or Stakes: Place a flag or stake at each of the four corners where the carport will be installed.

Verify Measurements: Ensure the length of each side is accurate and matches your carport design.

2.  Check Diagonal Distances

Equal Diagonals: Measure the diagonal distance between two opposite corners and ensure it matches the distance between the other two opposite corners. This ensures your site is perfectly square.

3.  Level the Site

Use a Level Tool: Ensure each side of the carport is level. If you only have a bubble level, run a string between the corner stakes to check for levelness and identify any high or low spots.

Adjust as Needed: Make necessary adjustments to achieve a flat and even surface.

4.  Clear the Area

Space for Installation Crew: Ensure there is enough clear, level space around the carport for the installation crew to work efficiently.

Remove Obstacles: Clear any debris, plants, or objects that might obstruct the installation process.

5.  Document the Site

Take Photos: Capture at least one photo from each of the four sides of the carport site. Ensure the entire area is visible in each photo to confirm that it is clear and level.

Review Order Status: You’ll receive a confirmation once your order is queued for scheduling.

Finalize Details: Ensure all details are correct and reach out if any adjustments are needed.

3.  Professional Installation

Installation Date: We will notify you of the scheduled installation date.
