• Alternatively, run a string between corner stakes to check for any high or low spots.

Clear Installation Space

• Ensure there is ample, fairly level space around the garage area for the installation crew to work safely.
• For extra-large garages, provide six to eight feet of clearance on all sides.

Mark the Four Corners

Use flags, stakes, or markers to outline where your garage will be installed.

After Ordering Your Garage

• Receive Recommendations: We’ll send you specific guidelines and diagrams for your foundation.
• Share with Contractor: Provide these recommendations to your concrete contractor and schedule your slab installation.

Optimal Timing

• Weather Considerations: Pour concrete when temperatures are consistently above 50°F for a week. Avoid pouring in temperatures below 40°F to ensure proper setting and curing.

Understand Curing

• Hydration Process: Concrete hardens through hydration, a chemical reaction between cement and water forming crystals that bind the aggregates.
• Setting Time: Concrete typically sets within 24 hours, becoming strong enough for foot traffic without leaving footprints.

Maintain Moisture

• Keep It Wet: Prevent excessive moisture loss by keeping the slab wet for at least one week after pouring, provided temperatures remain above 50°F.
• Method: Use a sprinkler with a fine mist setting to keep the slab moist without causing flooding around the foundation.

Alternative Curing Methods

• Curing Blankets: If maintaining moisture manually is challenging, use curing blankets like the UltraCure NCF to keep the slab moist and warm during curing.
• Professional Advice: Consult your contractor for the best curing technique based on your specific conditions.

Strength Development

• Initial Strength: Concrete reaches about two-thirds of its full strength within the first week, allowing light vehicle use.
• Full Strength: The slab continues to harden over several weeks, achieving near-full strength after a month.

Submit Your Permit

• Provide Documentation: Upload a copy of your approved building permit to Top Steel Shed. Installation cannot be scheduled without permit confirmation.
